Virtual Implementation in Backwards Induction

چکیده
We examine a sequential mechanism which is a simple modification of the normal form mechanism introduced by Abreu and Matsushima (1992). We show that almost any social choice function can be virtually implemented via a finite sequential game of perfect information. The solution concept assumed is backwards induction. In particular, any social choice function that is virtually implementable via the Abreu–Matsushima mechanism is also virtually implementable by a sequential mechanism. A New Acceptance Sampling Design Using Bayesian Modeling and Backwards Induction
In acceptance sampling plans, the decisions on either accepting or rejecting a specific batch is still a challenging problem. In order to provide a desired level of protection for customers as well as manufacturers, in this paper, a new acceptance sampling design is proposed to accept or reject a batch based on Bayesian modeling to update the distribution function of the percentage of nonconfor...
متن کاملBackwards Design or looking Sideways? Knowledge Translation in the Real World; Comment on “A Call for a Backward Design to Knowledge Translation”
El-Jardali and Fadllallah provide an excellent summary of the many dimensions of knowledge use, and the breath of issues and activities that must be considered if knowledge is to be put into practice. However, reliance on a continuum (rather than a cyclical, multidirectional, systems) model creates a number of limitations, particularly when promoting evidence-informed action in the areas of hea...
متن کاملBackwards Induction versus Forward Induction Reasoning
In this paper we want to shed some further light on what we mean by backwards induction and forward induction reasoning in dynamic games. To that purpose, we take the concepts of common belief in future rationality (Perea (2010)) and extensive form rationalizability (Pearce (1984), Battigalli (1997), Battigalli and Siniscalchi (2002)) as possible representatives for backwards induction and forw...

We present a computer-checked generic implementation for solving finitehorizon sequential decision problems. This is a wide class of problems, including intertemporal optimizations, knapsack, optimal bracketing, scheduling, etc. The implementation can handle time-step dependent control and state spaces, and monadic representations of uncertainty (such as stochastic, non-deterministic, fuzzy, or...
